"Often the deep valleys of our present will be understood only by looking back on them from the mountains of our future experiences. Often we cannot see the Lord's hand in our lives until long after trials have passed. Often the most difficult times in our lives are essential building blocks that form the foundation of our character and pave the way to future opportunity, understanding and happinness."
-Elder Uchtdorff

I love this quote! I have it written down and taped on my wall so I see it everyday. It is such a reminder to me that any trial I may be going through is just a 'building block'. It helps me keep perspective because sometimes I feel like I am at the bottom of the mountain.
ReplyDeleteWow! How did you know I needed this today? Giving it some more thought, it's the valleys that can provide the beautiful majesty of the mountains. Without the contrast, we would never know just how beautiful the mountains truly are. And, to take it further, there is nothing lovelier than the view the top of the mountain provides. Once at the top, we look down at the valley below, and are able to note the lovely little details that make the view (and the hike) worthwhile. I guess the moral is to be grateful for our trials, right? ;) They really do stud our life with beauty and grace.
